In Pursuit of Perfection

Image
While I was growing up, I heard the word ‘Perfectionist’ many times. It was used for many legends. Be it Aamir Khan (Indian Actor), Sachin Tendulkar (Cricketer), Roger Federer (Tennis Player) to name a few. However, I thought perfectionist means to be the best in everything. So, I tried to develop many hobbies from painting, singing, poetry, dancing, piano, writing, to be a person who is always ready to help. So, whenever anyone said to me Mr. Perfect than it meant everything to me. Although it was great to know many things at once, but when it came to master everything I know, instead of enjoying all those things a burden was created on me. It was like why am I doing this? Will this change the view how people see me? (as I was a little shy and I couldn’t speak face to face well so many believed that I was a negative person who is too busy to speak to anyone) At last, I realized that I am not being myself and I am not the same person any more. There was...

United We Stand

The recent Pulwama terror attack has shook the entire nation. With more than 40 brave hearts dying and many more getting injured, this attack is the largest attack in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few decades. This massive attack has made even the non-violent supporters question whether they are being too liberal. Whatever be the reason, the nation has lost too many brave souls and the whole country is in a mourning state right now. Just think if this has such a devastating effect on us, what will be the condition of the relatives of those soldiers. We cannot be physically present with them but we can send them thoughts for a speedy recovery and that’s the most important thing to do right now. Candle marches are a way to show that that whatever happened, it was not good. It is a symbol to show respect to the victims. Do it with a sincere effort and not to update stories on social media or just for the sake of it. Everybody is in pain right now and there is no need to prove natio...

Getting a Fresh Start

Change in your life is always difficult. But in this ever-changing world, the only thing which is constant is change. Change can be of your thoughts, life, belief, relations or work. It can be due to anything, sometimes, the situation is not even in our control. Most of us gets discouraged when things are going against us. But, is it the solution? By feeling sad you are just piling up the pain which is dangerous not only for you but the people around you as well. There will always be a positive side in everything. Even when we are talking about change, I never said change is bad. There can be positive changes as well. But most of us just assumed that it is just bad. You must have heard the phrase, whatever happens, it is for the good. Some think it’s true, others don’t, again perception comes to play. Cultivate good thoughts and you will see the good in everything. If there is hell, then there is heaven, if there is dark, then there is light and if there is despair,...

Stop Complaining and start living!

Image
Isn’t it easier to complain about all the bad things that happens in your life? Isn’t it easier to play with blame game and never accept the reality? Well actually, it is! Don’t get me wrong, I said it’s easier and not better. Complaining can only be a short-term relief, never a long term. If you want long term happiness, there is only one way, stop complaining and start loving and living. Complaining is a natural phenomenon for us. If someone says he never complains, he is lying. We all complain but the difference is that the successful people accept it and look to find a solution. A rich mindset will always look forward to the accept, correct and improve formula. A great leader will not hesitate to show where you have done wrong, but he will never compare you with others. He will correct you but never complains. He will accept what is right and what is wrong and will never play a blame game. On the other hand, the poor mindset will keep on complaining to ease off the...

Life Lessons

Image
Learning lessons in life is not a challenge, implementing them is. Every individual irrespective of what or where he/she is, learns something new about life from time to time. I believe one can learn from anything. As long as it teaches something good, it doesn’t matter what is the source . It can be books, experiences and even non-living things and characters. These lessons are important not only because they show us the right path but also because they give us a chance to correct our mistakes. Like each of us have different mindset, these lessons are also different for everyone. Some people choose optimistic over realistic while others do the opposite. The reason? Maybe they have different experiences, lifestyle and mentality. So, for every individual to think alike is not possible and we don’t need that either, otherwise the world will be a boring place and we will never be able to understand the importance of anything. Books are the rich source of life ...

Fear of Failure! How to deal with it?

Image
The biggest bottleneck between you and your dreams is the fear of failure. Rejection, criticism, accidents often arouse the feeling of fear inside us. Judging others is not a unique thing. Everybody does it. Even, we sometimes intentionally or unintentionally judge others based on their actions, looks and their dreams. Judging itself is not a bad thing, it’s the negative vibes one tends to get from it, is more damaging. Sometimes, you will perform poor, you will fail in your task but that doesn’t mean to call it an end. There is a difference between fail and failure. You don't need to panic, just stay calm because failing is inevitable, but failure is in our control. In any sport, the aim of every athlete is to win and secure every trophy, medal, records and recognition to his/her name. There are millions of players around the globe but only some hundreds are known to many people. Be it Roger Federer in tennis, Sachin Tendulkar in cricket, Michael Jordan in baske...

Tired of Facing Criticism, then deal with it. But How?

Image
The word itself is enough for anyone to feel low and lose interest in his/her life. But, is it that bad that 90% of us hates to listen to it? So, let’s see what exactly it is. Criticism in simple terms is just a statement which generally shows what is wrong with anything. The statement itself is not bad, it’s the belief that we make after hearing it is. A student hearing that he/she is not good in a subject is criticism, a person hearing bad things about his behavior, act, appearance or personality is criticism, a company hearing that its manufacturing process is not suitable is a criticism, a government hearing about its faulty policies is criticism and the list goes on. If you want to be successful, if you want to be happy and if you want to develop a rich mindset you must deal with criticism and rejection. When you hear criticism it’s not the time to worry, it’s the time to look at yourself. If you believe you are right, then continue your work and let others b...

Friends

Image
When a smile automatically comes to your face when you hear the word friends, it’s a sign that you are living a great life. Friends are a mixture of all your emotions and love. They are like family to many. They are there for you in your joy, sorrow, highs and lows and sometimes becomes the most important people in your life. They are like a shadow in the sun, an aid to your wounds, a hope in your life and a love in your doom. William Shakespeare, regarded as the most eminent English writer defined friends as the one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow. The definition is as beautiful as his write ups. A friend is not a person who only loves you but also understand you and help you to scale new heights in your life. He may be a dreamer sometimes or can be realistic. A great one knows when to be a motivate us and when to caution us. Choosing and making friends are as impor...
