Life Lessons

Learning lessons in life is not a challenge, implementing them is. Every individual irrespective of what or where he/she is, learns something new about life from time to time. I believe one can learn from anything. As long as it teaches something good, it doesn’t matter what is the source. It can be books, experiences and even non-living things and characters.

These lessons are important not only because they show us the right path but also because they give us a chance to correct our mistakes. Like each of us have different mindset, these lessons are also different for everyone. Some people choose optimistic over realistic while others do the opposite. The reason? Maybe they have different experiences, lifestyle and mentality. So, for every individual to think alike is not possible and we don’t need that either, otherwise the world will be a boring place and we will never be able to understand the importance of anything.

Books are the rich source of life lessons for majority of the people. One book that instantly comes to my mind when we are talking about life lessons and following your dream is Paulo Coelho’s book “The Alchemist”. The story of a young shepherd boy who wants to follow his dreams and later accomplishes it can increase your wisdom. Some of the best quotes which we must follow in our lives are –

Wherever the heart is, the treasure will be there.

Do what your heart desires and you will accomplish it. Even if you fail, you will never lose hope. You will keep trying it until you achieve it because you are doing the thing which makes you happy and when you complete it, the feeling will be the same as finding a treasure.

It’s not what enters the mouth is evil, it’s what comes out.

Pen is mightier than the sword. The words that you speak or write can affect a person in a major way.  The external wounds can be healed quickly but the internal wounds may take your whole life. If a person is always positive, gives great advices and is realistic, he is a good person in everybody’s eyes. So, even you are a drug addict, alcoholic or anything like that, if you choose your words wisely before speaking, you will always be praised.

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

I bet there is nothing to add to this epic line. If you want to achieve something and believe in it, you will achieve it. The power of your subconscious mind too plays a key role in it. It is the power of your subconscious mind that helps you get out of the crunch situations in your life and make the impossible possible.

The greatest lie is at a certain point of time, we lose control of what’s happening to us and our life becomes controlled by fate.

Thoughts are the most important element in anyone’s life. You become what you think. Your habits, routine and your work will setup what is your future. Whatever happens in your life is because of your decisions and not anybody else. There may be some events which are not in your control, but if you want to move on, you must take control of it. Do something new, develop some new methods or habits and keep on growing.

I remember a great line which I heard recently. आसूं आए तो खुद पोछना, लोग पोछने आऐगे तो सौदा करेगे। (If you cry, wipe your tears yourself, if others come to help you, they will make a deal out of it.)

It also shows that the best person in your life is you, the person who you should take care is you and the person who you should make happy and comfortable is you.

If we are talking about lessons and there is no mention of teachers, then something is not right. A person who guides you, motivates you and improves you is a teacher. The first teacher in your life will always be your parents. I learnt from my mother to be patient no matter how hard the situation is and learnt time management from my father which is always helpful no matter where you are.

I was blessed to have some great school teachers as well. Some honorable mentions are –

1 – Chhavi ma’am – She was my class teacher in standard 10th. She was the one who taught me how to study in the best way and one should not only focus on the syllabus but learn whatever is linked with the topic.

2 – Azad sir – He was my English teacher in class 11th and 12th. He helped me to improve my communication skills and taught me that if you want to learn any other language you should have absolute control on your mother tongue.

3 – Manish sir – I don’t think I ever saw such a hardworking teacher. He was my IP (Information Practices) teacher in class 11th and 12th. He taught me that no matter what others say you must do your work because you are doing it for yourself and not to show-off in front of others.

Remember I told you one can learn lessons from anything. So, let’s talk about the lessons I learnt from films and TV shows.

1 – Anger and sentiments cloud your judgement - Avengers: Infinity War

2 – You got to let go of the stuff from the past because it just doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is what you choose to be now. – Kung Fu Panda

3 – Work hard and break your limits – Dragon Ball series

4 – Failures and disappointments are necessary. One shows the mistakes and one make you mentally strong – Pokemon series.

I know, some may think of me as a child, but if a child can teach you this, then there is no harm in it. It’s not what goes in is bad, it’s what comes out is.

Life is like archery. If it didn’t pull you backwards you cannot reach to your dreams. Just focus on your aim when you pulled back.
